Property Tax Relief

Govenor Abbott declared a national disaster in Texas on February 12.

What does this mean?

Property that is at least 15% damaged as a result of the recent winter storm and freeze MAY be eligible for some property tax relief in 2021.

How do you apply?

Visit Harris County Appraisal District (hcad.org)   Form 50-312 Temporary Exemption Property Damaged by Disaster (hcad.org)

What will you need?

The form requests for a dollar amount of damage; along with documentation such as: repair invoices, estimates, and photos. 

How long can you wait?

Property owners have until May 28, 2021 to file an exemption form seeking a disaster value for their property.
